This compulsory subject corresponds to the general training cycle of all careers offered at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), except Law, which requires French. It is the third course of the English language curriculum offered at PUCMM and it is the fifth of the sequence constituted by ILE-103-T Basic English I, ILE-203-T Basic English II, ILE-205-T English I, ILE 303-T English II, and the English for Academic Purposes course depending on the career. ILE-305-T

English III is located in the sixth academic period (third period of the second year) of the careers offered at PUCMM and cannot be exonerated by the English level exam. In ILE-305-T English III, participants will continue to develop, in an integrated way, the oral and written comprehension (Listening and Reading), and oral and written production (Speaking and Writing) competencies at the Low-Advanced level.

The narrative, the expository, and the argumentative texts will form the three major axes for the content of the course. Through them, the students will develop the ability to narrate, to identify and express causal relationships, to make inferences, draw conclusions, summarize, paraphrase,to construct argumentative texts, and to defend their opinions.The content of the course will be presented from a critical thinking perspective.
