General Information for ILE-305 Students

Period 3-2020-2021

Classes begin on May 3rd and end on August 7th, 2021. Final exams will take place during the last week of classes. From August 4th to 7th, 2021.

Class sessions must be taken in a teaching-learning environment, and cameras turned on according to teaching demands.

- Student’s performance and participation in class in all 4 skills.

MID-COURSE EVALUATIONS:

1. Analysis of an expository essay on a topic/issue of interest to summarize the information, and to be presented orally in class (15%) / Due dates: June 7th and 8th, Content: Unit I.

2. Quiz #1 (10%), Content: Grammar and mechanical aspects of Unit I. Dates: June 7th and 8th

3. An argumentative essay about a current or professional issue, referencing consulted bibliographic sources (20%) / Due dates: June 30th and July 1st: Content: Unit II.

4. Quiz #2 (10%), Content: Grammar and mechanical aspects of Unit II. Dates: July 5th and 6th

END OF COURSE EVALUATIONS:

1. A University application essay that authentically recounts the author’s inner voices to draw the attention and interest of the admission committee. (25%) / Due dates:August 4th and 5th , Content: Unit III.

2. Quiz #3 (10%), Content: Grammar and mechanical aspects of Unit III (10%) / Dates: August 4th and 5th

READ CAREFULLY THE FOLLOWING NOTES:

 

THE NUMBER OF PERMITTED ABSENCES IN THIS LEVEL OF ENGLISH IS SIX (6). THE SEVENTH (7th) ABSENCE IS “FN”.

Once the virtual sessions start, students should avoid leaving and entering the sessions.

CELL PHONE USE IS NOT PERMITTED IN THE CLASSROOM, EXCEPT FOR DIDACTICAL PURPOSES.

It is prohibited to eat, smoke, or drink beverages of any type during class sessions.

You must dress accordingly to a teaching-learning environment.

The last day for partial withdrawal of course is July 9th, and the last day to drop the course, full withdrawal is July 23rd .

The date of the final exam is obligatory and immovable. Medical excuses are valid only for Mid Term or Final exams, and only those that are sent to the Registrar’s Office for medical reasons.

Final Exams will take place during the regular class schedule, cameras must be on during exams.
